Griswold Family Christmas

it may have been a Compher family christmas adventure...but there sure were alot of moments that reminded me of the Griswolds...christmas vacation....we decided to for the first time ever...cut our own christmas tree...so just around the corner from me is the Xerri's Christmas tree farm http://www.xerrisxmastrees.com/index.htm so they basically hand you a saw..and off you go into this field of trees....when the kids first started we were on the hunt for the perfect christmas tree....we really had no idea how hard this was....after having a fake tree for like 15 years...
here's tonee's homemade "country" mistletoe....

okay by now...it is raining...and snowing...we are soaked about up to our knees..and ready to just close our eyes...spin around and just pick any damn tree...but of course I had to stop and get a picture of us....that Chris took...

okay so here she is....this is the one....and it was so nice to have Chris here..to do the boy work...of chopping it down..(yes..I know us girls could've done it..but it is nice to have a guy to do that stuff) and this was his first time with a real tree..too..so he was all into it...plus what guy doesn't like to chop things down??
we were so beat by now...but we had to drag her back to the barn
so she could get shaked.
and tied up
.....da..dahhh...isn't she TINY!!! after they bundled it up....she looked so small...I could've just fit her in the back of my car.....but as a die hard scrapbooker..there was no way I was passing up the chance to have her on the top of the car....for a cute photo op...
no we are starting to decorate!! and I can't wait to scrap these....because my butt is staying home today....taking a day of the gym..did 6 days in a row...and I am beat..~~

It's so worth it!! We've cut our tree since I was little and love every minute of it. Cold and all!! Thanks for sharing!

We did it once when Mitchell my 19 yr old was a baby. It's fun but cold, we put him on a little tykes toboggan. I'll have to scrap those photos one of these days. LOL

You deserve a break, have fun decorating!

We cut down a tree one year ... in frigid, sub zero temperature with two kids who were popsicles in five minutes.

We went the artificial route years ago, but I miss that smell of fresh pine. Scented candles just aren't the same.

very cool. those will be fun to scrap. I don't do the real trees because of allergies, but I LOVE the smell! Soooo, I just burn lots of Christmas tree scented candles instead, although, still not the same. Enjoy your real tree this year!

Love the pics...I had to laugh though because in one of the pics, it looks like the tops of the trees are flipping the bird LOL. Love your sweatshirt...I need one...those are my initials! :)
